Styl10 vs Stitch Fix

Stitch Fix vs Styl10. Honestly.

Stitch Fix invented modern subscription styling. Styl10 takes a different angle on the same problem. Both are good at different jobs. Here's the honest read on which fits which user — yes, we make Styl10, but we'll call our own gaps where they exist.

The core difference

A box. Or a render.

Stitch Fix solves the styling problem by sending you a curated physical box. You try the pieces at home, keep what works, ship back what doesn't. Styl10 solves the same problem one step earlier — visual try-on at home before you commit, so fewer boxes are needed in the first place.

Direct comparison

Where each wins.

Both products attack the same underlying friction (shopping is cognitively expensive) but make different tradeoffs.
Stitch Fix wins on discovery
A human stylist curates pieces you wouldn't have found yourself. Surprise is part of the value. Worth it if you want to expand your style without doing the search work.
Styl10 wins on control
You pick what to try on. Any retailer. See it on you instantly. No box, no return shipment, no styling fee. Faster cycle for users who know roughly what they want.
Stitch Fix wins on convenience-of-delivery
Physical pieces arrive at your door. Styl10 still requires you to order separately from the retailer once you've decided. That's a tradeoff for the lower price + universal retailer support.
Styl10 wins on price
$12/month for 100 try-ons + closet + OOTD + goes-with. Stitch Fix charges $20/box styling fee + retail per kept piece. Styl10 math favors users who shop more than ~2 boxes a year.

When to use which

They're complements.

Plenty of users could legitimately use both. Stitch Fix when you want curation + surprise + physical try-on with returns handled. Styl10 when you've found a piece you're considering and want to see it on yourself before committing. The two products solve different parts of the same problem — they're not zero-sum.

What we don't replicate

The human stylist.

Styl10's stylist is an LLM judge, not a person. For most decisions this is a fair trade — the AI is faster and runs 24/7 — but for high-stakes occasions (wedding gown, career-defining outfit, a big-investment piece), a human stylist or in-store fitting is still the right answer. Use Stitch Fix or a dedicated personal-shopping service for those. Use Styl10 for the other 95%.

Questions people ask

Before you try it.

Does Styl10 ship physical clothes?
No. Styl10 renders a virtual try-on so you can see yourself in the piece before ordering. The actual purchase happens on the retailer's site (Nordstrom, Zara, Gap, etc.). No box, no shipping back.
Will Styl10 fully replace Stitch Fix for me?
Depends on what you value. If the value of Stitch Fix is 'discover pieces I wouldn't have found,' Styl10 doesn't replace that — we don't curate or surprise. If the value is 'try clothes before committing,' Styl10 solves it earlier (visualization) and cheaper.
What about Trunk Club, ARMOIRE, Daily Look, Wantable?
Same comparison framework. They're variants of the subscription-box model with different curation flavors. The tradeoff (curation + delivery + price vs. control + speed + lower price) is consistent across the category. Styl10's value prop holds against the whole tier.
What does Styl10 cost vs Stitch Fix?
Styl10: free tier with 3 try-ons; Pro $12/month for 100 try-ons + closet + OOTD + goes-with. Stitch Fix: $20 styling fee per box (credited toward purchases), plus retail per piece kept. Net: Styl10 cheaper if you shop more than ~2 boxes a year.
Are Stitch Fix's stylists really human?
Yes — Stitch Fix employs thousands of human stylists who match users with curated pieces. AI helps the matching, but a person makes the final call on what goes in each box. Styl10 is fully AI-driven by contrast.
